Alpha’s Kitty Read online

  I went to my study and got the Alpha of Felyna—a middle-aged bipedal man who used to be a kitten handler—on a videocall.

  “Alpha Hervé, what can I do for you?” he asked.

  “Do you keep records of where the kittens go, when they’re processed?” I asked.

  “For a short while. Just the export dockets. Why?”

  “The last shipment, there were two kittens. One was tortoiseshell and the other was charcoal with a white tail. What became of them?”

  He pressed something on another tablet and scrolled for a moment.

  “They both went to Capriole.”

  “Where in Capriole?”

  He gave me the name of the pet store. I made several more calls to various people on Capriole, getting information, until I finally spoke to the man who had bought them.

  “I’m not returning them or selling them, if that’s what you want,” he said, when I asked about them.

  “So you still have them?”

  “Of course, I do. They were such a sweet pair, I decided to get both. What’s this all about?” He was rightly suspicious of my questioning. I supposed kitties were just as rare on Capriole as Corellia, and he was probably inundated with offers to buy them.

  “I have their sister. She’s got orange fur. She misses them, and I was wondering if you would consider letting the kittens all speak to one another.”

  He gave me a long look of deep surprise. “Coming from someone on Corellia, that’s a very surprising thing to hear. Your people aren’t known for being kind to pets, you know.”

  “I know, and I’m trying to change that. Can we set up a video meeting?”

  He was very open to the idea, and we finished organizing all the fine details. When I ended the videocall, I returned to Kitty and climbed back into the bed behind her, holding her. She was mine, and I would do anything in my power to make her happy. That was a lot of things.

  I couldn’t wait to tell her the news about her sisters. She was going to talk to them tomorrow. But right now, I decided to let her sleep. It wasn’t entirely altruistic. I wanted her all to myself, and as soon as I told her about her sisters, she would be thinking about them.

  I suppose I would always be a little jealous, a lot controlling, and completely in love with my incredible Kitty.

  I suppressed the temptation to squeeze the back of her neck, to find out if she was conditioned to climax from touch alone, yet. Most of me knew she probably needed a few more months of training, but the inner sadist in me filed it away to try next time we were asleep together. There would be plenty of next-times. All the time in the world.
